From Within
Self-regulation Workshop for those who want to live their life from within.
Through this Workshop you will learn everything you need to know about self-regulation practices.
You will understand your nervous system better and learn the basics of Somatic Experiencing, Trauma, Nervous System, Resources, Self-regulation and Co–regulation, and so much more so you can navigate your life from your lighter and grounded self.
After years struggling with health issues, such as arthritis, chronic pain, depression, anxiety and many more that prevented me from living a healthy life, I decided to search for my own answers by studying a different range of modalities.
Many healing modalities I found would make me feel overwhelmed and would leave me exhausted for days. These modalities would not prepare me to navegate through my trauma, and my traumatised system did not have the capacity to deal with more sad, frustrating and angering memories.
When I encountered Somatic Experiencing my perspective of healing changed.
I understood that in order to heal trauma and my body, I did not need to dig in my past and take the risk of retraumatizing myself.
I finally understood that the key for healing was not in investigating the stories, finding who to blame or even looking for forgiveness but in the relationship with my body, connecting with my internal and external resources, and in strengthening my capacity to feel safe in my own skin.
For a very long time, I thought the infinity of morning practices would help me deal with the morning anxiety and the overwhelming emotions and sensations.
When I began to learn about the nervous system I understood that I was actually overwhelming my system with information, which would leave me even more overwhelmed and anxious.
Then, I started to simplify my life according to my nervous system state, and began to learn deeply about self-regulation practices and understand the science behind them and how they impact our physiology.
Once I implemented these practices, my morning anxiety was gone and certain emotions and sensation suddenly became manageable.
I understood the importance of simple regulating practices for my overall health.
And today I want to share them with you.

Nowadays I feel the benefits of self-regulation practices not only in my body, but also in my 1:1 sessions. I notice that amongst my clients the ones that have a more profound transformation are the ones that are committed to their resources and engage in self-regulation practices frequently.
Therefore, I decided to create a workshop focused on self-regulation.

Frequently Asked Questions
1.What is Trauma?
Trauma can be defined as any unresolved response of the autonomic nervous system. It is the nervous system's response to an event, not necessarily the event itself. Events can affect each of us very differently.
"In short, trauma is about loss of connection- to ourselves, to our bodies, to our families, to others, and to the world around us. This loss of connection is often hard to recognize, because it doesn‘t happen all at once. It can happen slowly, over time, and we adapt to these subtle changes sometimes without even noticing them. These are the hidden effects of trauma, the ones most of us keep to ourselves." - Dr. Peter Levine
It is important to point out that there are 2 different types of trauma: shock trauma and developmental trauma.
Shock trauma is linked to an overwhelming event or life threatening experience, whereas developmental trauma is the result of childhood experiences of mistreatment or abuse that has been repeated many times. These cumulative experiences may involve verbal abuse, neglect or manipulation by a parent or any other person.
2.What does Regulation and Self-regulation mean?
Regulation is a term used to describe our ability to control our emotional state, to calm ourselves during times of heightened emotion - when we become anxious, deeply sad, angry or frustrated. We can do it by ourselves (self-regulation) or the help with other people, animals or even nature (co-regulation).
Self-regulation is a learned process, one we integrate into our own lives through observing others and through the attachment stages with our early caregivers.
3. Where do the workshops take place?
The online workshop takes place via zoom, and the in person workshop takes place in São Luis, Portugal.
